In addition to the programs the American Institute of Diamond Cutting offers it also features an in-house rough diamond cutting service. The institute manufactures and custom designs cuts to rough diamonds and can be consulted on any work that's required by customers. All received diamonds go through strict procedures, including weightings, analysis and a consultation.

Hofer has been in the field of colored diamonds since the very early 80's and has had accomplishments such as examining the Hope blue diamond, publishing a seven-year study and speaking at the 1981 International Gemological Symposium in Los Angeles. Also at the American Institute of Diamond Cutting is Svetlana Frank, a fancy color specialist and diamond cutter and Leslie Peters, a diamond cutter and rough specialist.
